Flavour of the month...

We take a look at who’s been saying what in the Insurance press over the past few weeks – it’s been another eventful month!

Insurance Times took a over-arching view of the consolidators this month, stating that 3i was to review it’s holding in Jelf, Oval has secured a multi-million pound loan from RSA, Giles is looking for a transformational deal and Bluefin is looking to start making acquisitions. All in all, it’s a busy time.

Insurance Age magazine held a glittering awards ceremony to celebrate the winners at the UK Broker Awards 2009, with editor Martin Friel backing the independent broker stating:

“The reality of broking is that it is not just about the big companies with the scale and the clout. There’s room for the little guy too. Only a fool would write them off.”

And amongst the winners this year, Broker Network Member Walker Midgely who picked up the gong for Schemes Intermediary of the Year. Congratulations to Managing Director Tony Wood!

Perhaps the biggest events over the past few weeks have been surrounding people – John Kitson announced he was to leave Aviva as Sales and Marketing Director in March 2010. This was quickly followed by the news that Igal Mayer was to leave the UK as Aviva Chief Executive and head to the US. It’s another example of the ever changing landscape of the insurance market...
