Do you remember your work experience placements when you were a student? Charlotte Ellis recently joined our Communications and Events and Marketing Consultancy teams on a work experience placement, and today on our blog, she is sharing her insight on her time here at Broker Network.
Towards the end of a previous work experience placement within a different company, I was introduced to the Marketing team, and to a creative, yet equally, ambitious profession that I didn’t know a lot about. I’ve always had a keen interest in creativity but didn’t have any idea of an area of work that would allow me to apply this, which would also keep me engaged. Following this placement, I was eager to jump back into working life, so I could learn more, and was delighted when I had the opportunity to gain some work experience at Broker Network.
Broker Network has helped me learn a great deal about the world of Communications and Marketing and the variety of roles available within the sector. I have found it to be a unique working environment, compared with my previous experiences of office jobs. I was wowed by the tight knit feel of the company, even though it is continually expanding and growing. It is a company that I would definitely love to come and work for again in the future, if I get the opportunity.
I’ve received great support from the Communications and Events team and have felt completely comfortable, even though I have been in quite a foreign environment. Having this professional insight has been incredibly beneficial and helped me gain an understanding of the different areas within the team, hopefully helping me to decide which area of Marketing I would like to specialise in after my degree. I’ve been able to get a good sense of what a professional working environment is like, which will continue to be beneficial for me throughout my life, whether I decide to work in an agency or internally for a company.
Throughout my time here, I have had the opportunity to network with experts in the role and sit in on meetings, gaining an inside look on how things are run. I was thrilled to be able to assist with image sourcing and producing copy for some of the newsletters and digital magazines sent out both internally to Broker Network staff and externally to Members. This experience has given me new skills to add into my CV and a great look at the kind of work I will be able to help create in future jobs.
Getting to know everybody on the team has been wonderful and even though I will be sad to go, this experience has made me all the more excited to start my Marketing degree at university in September and be able to start pursuing my career in the field.
